New York AG Joins ACLU’s Lawsuit Against Trump
Via press release from New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman:
“As I’ve made clear: President Trump’s executive action is unconstitutional, unlawful, and fundamentally un-American. That is why my office will be filing to join the federal lawsuit against President Trump and his administration. I’m proud to partner with these organizations to fight to permanently strike down this dangerous and discriminatory order.
“I will continue to do everything in my power to not just fight this executive order, but to protect the families caught in the chaos sown by President Trump’s hasty and irresponsible implementation – including pressing DHS and CBP to provide a full list of those still detained and allow them access to legal service providers.”
The lawsuit was originally filed by the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale University, the Urban Justice Center, and the National Immigration Law Center.
It was Schneidermann who forced Trump to settle the Trump University fraud suits for $25M, which Trump has paid.

Pope Francis: You cannot reject refugees and call yourself a Christian
“It’s hypocrisy to call yourself a Christian and chase away a refugee or someone seeking help, someone who is hungry or thirsty, toss out someone who is in need of my help,” said Pope Francis.
“If I say I am Christian, but do these things, I’m a hypocrite.”
All nations must focus on “service to the poorest, the sick (and) those who have abandoned their homelands in search of a better future for themselves and their families.”
He’s not alone:
Christian Leaders Denounce Trump’s Plan to Favor Christian Refugee
But if Mr. Trump had hoped for Christian leaders to break out in cheers, that is, for the most part, not what he has heard so far.
A broad array of clergy members has strongly denounced Mr. Trump’s order as discriminatory, misguided and inhumane. Outrage has also come from some of the evangelical, Roman Catholic and mainline Protestant leaders who represent the churches most active in trying to aid persecuted Christians.
By giving preference to Christians over Muslims, religious leaders have said the executive order pits one faith against another. By barring any refugees from entering the United States for nearly four months, it leaves people to suffer longer in camps, and prevents families from reuniting.
Also, many religious leaders have said that putting an indefinite freeze on refugees from Syria, and cutting the total number of refugees admitted this year by 60,000, shuts the door to those most in need.
White supremacist Steve Bannon, now on National Security Council, running Trump’s immigration policy
On Saturday, as thousands of people across the country rose up against his Muslim ban, Donald Trump did something else worthy of mass protest. He put a white nationalist on his National Security Council:
Trump reorganized the National Security Council to, along with other changes, give [Steve] Bannon a regular seat on the principals committee—the meetings of the most senior national security officials, including the secretaries of defense and state.
That memo also states that the director of national intelligence and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will sit on the principals committee only when the issues to be discussed pertain to their “responsibilities and expertise.” In the previous two administrations, both were included as regular attendees.
If there was any question whether Bannon or ceremonial chief of staff Reince Priebus would exert more influence on Trump, let that be your answer. No, really, let that be your answer, because on that other matter—the Muslim ban—there was Bannon:
Friday night, DHS arrived at the legal interpretation that the executive order restrictions applying to seven countries—Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen—did not apply to people who with lawful permanent residence, generally referred to as green card holders.
The White House overruled that guidance overnight, according to officials familiar with the rollout. That order came from the President’s inner circle, led by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. Their decision held that, on a case by case basis, DHS could allow green card holders to enter the US.
Everywhere you looked Saturday, there was Steve Bannon, making this a true Breitbart News regime.

AZ Indian Tribe That Controls 75 Miles of Border Won’t Allow TRUMP WALL on their Land (VIDEO)
Tribal leadership of Tohono O’odham Nation in southern
Arizona said they won’t support a border wall project on their land.
Part of their reservation extends into Mexico and covers 75 miles of the
international border. The tribe’s chairman and vice chair said the plan was always to try
to work with whoever holds the office of the United States President.
But, they added, it’s still too early to tell exactly how Donald Trump’s
administration will impact the tribe.Vice Chairman Verlon Jose explained tribal members have traversed
their ancestral land since time immemorial, and a wall of any sort would
not be supported by the community.“Over my dead body will a wall be built,” Jose said, describing some
community members’ sentiments. “I don’t wish to die but I do wish to
work together with people so we can truly protect the homeland of this
place they call the United States of America. Not only for our people
but for the American people.”
Wow, that’s going to be either incredibly uplifting, or heartrending.

ACLU National on Twitter
Lee Gelernt: “The judge, in a nutshell, saw through what the government was doing and gave us what we wanted, which was to block the Trump order and not allow the government to remove anybody who has come and is caught up in the order, nationwide. They cannot remove anybody. Plus, she said they need to give us a list of the names who are being detained, because as you all know, we have not been ale to track everyone down despite diligent efforts. The government must now give us a name. We’re going to go see each of the people, provide counsel, try to get them out of detention, right now. But at minimum, they will not be returned back to danger. The court has set further briefing and will hear this case some time in February, but the key tonight was making sure that no one was put back on a plane and some people were threatened to be put back on a plane as of 9:30 tonight. Hopefully that will be blocked. She told the government to get the word out to their people at airports, “Don’t put people on planes.” So, if you hear of that, you need to let us know immediately, because it would be in defiance of a court order.”
