11×12 “Don’t You Forget about Me” The Light at the End of the Tunnel
Not going to lie, as beautiful as these shots were. There was something very unsettling about them too – and that even though it was in birght daylight, no shadows, no creepy corners. Maybe it’s the way the lights pave a clear path, sheer endlessly, guiding the way. In the other shots of Sam and Dean together we had the big bright EXIT looming in the background every time. It’s missing here and yet I personally cannot shake the feeling this is a little like this moment from 11×07 “Plush” with Sam in the hospital. Dean, walking down this corridor, it just brings me back to the moth. Nocturnal creature always striving for the light even though it may mean death… So yeah, somehow this twistedly this feeds to the thoughts of Dean not making it out alive, just to the light at the end of the tunnel…
Look, I haven’t seen so many episodes but am I correct here? One episode ago Lucifer told Sam that he’d redeem himself for his pesky moments of independent thought if he’d stay with Lucifer forever and in the last episode, Sam apologized for his pesky moments of independent thought and Dean said it’s fine because what really matters is that they’re together forever?
Like is this what happened here?
Because if so, that is BLATANT.
Seriously blatant. And this is just one episode after the mid-season finale, when Sam was lured back into the cage because ~it’s what I’m supposed to do and ~he made me feel at peace. Like……?????

hopefully this also means sam gets to escape this cage as well with a resounding no. and the manipulation is so insidious, and so precise: berating sam for not doing/being something and then acting surprised when sam reveals himself resigned to the life/fate that he has been browbeaten into.
i think of the last conversation in 11.11 with that scene in 10.23 and i want to vomit.
Interesting thought, particularly since he’s still being surrounded by cage imagery.
I’m expecting your copies of Sam x Eileen fic on my desk by Monday morning. I want codas and more team hunting fics and I want coffeeshop AUs and medieval knight AUs and sexual and non-sexual and I want it all.
