Okay, here’s my prediction:
Trump and GOP Congress gut medicaid, the ACA, federal funding for research (NIH, NIMH), EPA, and a myriad other programs in order to fund:
Deep tax cuts/loopholes to the upper crust (aka: failed Reagan-era trickle down economics).
Trump’s Erection Wall
Trump “fails” to negotiate a deal wherein Mexico pays for the Wall.
In a fit of narcissistic pique, Trump withdraws all aid from Mexico and ends trade agreements.
He declares SUCCESS. I am the AWESOMEST PREZ EVAH!
The “money” that Mexico “paid” does NOT go back to the taxpayers in any form, but is absorbed into the national debt because the GOP is screaming at the increases in debt caused when they lowered taxes on a certain percentage of the population.
Say goodbye to cheap products from Mexico. Say hello to more cheap products from China, and with that influx say goodbye to our negotiating position with them.
Maybe not full out trade wars ensue, but we definitely have trade kerfuffles. Prices rise – putting more financial burden on people who can’t afford it.
Say hello to an increased flow of drugs from Mexico because:
I’m betting a good portion of that aid we give them is to help with law enforcement and cooperative DEA programs between Mexico and the US.
Trump’s Erection Wall is a lot smaller than advertised, and it doesn’t inhibit the flow of people one iota.
